Brenda Agyekum graduated from Kent State University with honors,
majoring in criminology and justice studies and minoring in pre-law.
While pursuing her undergraduate degree, she was heavily involved on
campus, participating in track and field as a sprinter and becoming a
student leader. She joined the Black Student Union, serving as
president, and was on the event-planning committee for the African
Student Association.

Sports shaped her life. Growing up, she was involved in drill team,
soccer, basketball and track and field. Her first love of soccer
helped her bond with her father, Akili. Gifted with speed, she won
track-and-field conferences and district finals and placed at regional
and state finals.

In 2021, Agyekum became a certified victim’s advocate while working
at a victim’s assistance agency. She also has a mediation
certification from Kent State University.

In her free time, Agyekum enjoys cooking, reading and journaling.
